There is a great line-up of Symposia to look forward to at CSEP 2021 Zooming into the future. We’ve interviewed each presenter to give you a preview of what to expect and how attending will benefit you.

In this feature we talk to Danielle Bouchard, (PhD, CSEP-CEP), Associate Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of New Brunswick. She is also the Co-Director of the Cardiometabolic Exercise & Lifestyle Laboratory (CELLab), and an Affiliated Member of IMPART Team Canada. At CSEP 2021, Dr. Bouchard will be presenting at the Important Funding in Exercise Interventions for Seniors Living in New Brunswick symposium with Grant Handrigan (PhD), Chris McGibbon (PhD), and Martin Senechal (PhD).

What can CSEP certified members learn from attending your session that they can apply to their practice?

The talk is about 4 different exercise projects that are implemented in NB with older adults. members could take the core of these and offer similar program in their settings.

What do you think makes this topic and the content unique to the CSEP conference?

Atlantic provinces are not well represented at CSEP. This is an eye opener that good research and collaborations can happen with academics from Atlantic Canada.

What strategies have you learned throughout the course of the pandemic that you believe will make your session engaging in a virtual setting?

All data were collected during the pandemic. We will expose what positives can we keep from COVID when it comes to exercise delivery with seniors.

CSEP is consistently growing with a diverse community of members, which is reflected in this year’s selection of expert AGM panelists. What does EDI mean to you and why is it important in our field as our organization continues to grow?

Important to acknowledge that one size fits all is not the future of exercise delivery. We constantly make efforts to attract more diversity in research projects.
